From Home

Hello to all! Long time no see.. Excuse my lack of updating and thank you for being patient with me! I've had a crazy last two weeks traveling home from Paris (managing to pack my life into two suitcases might I add) , attending a wedding, celebrating christmas, and now I'm in Chicago for the weekend.

It feels nice to be home but I am already missing Paris like crazy, still dreaming in French, and continue to say "Pardon" to everyone I accidentally run into on the street. Also, where is my 2 euro wine?

Anyway, I can tell you that my style definitely changed while I was in Paris, as I think you all have noticed. I'm very content without the fussiness of overbearing trends that I used to try and implement on the reg.. I prefer toned, elegant, and chic.. with my little touch of grunge of course.

I do love that the faux fur "snood" is popular this season.. it reminds me of the classic fur stoll of the great years passed, and makes every outfit feel a little more luxe. My beautiful Moschino belt was a gift from my boyfriend that I've been lusting for for quite some time.. I think it's quite lovely and looks wonderful cinched around my black A-Line coat as well.

If I don't get a chance to post again before the New Year, I just want to wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and safe holiday! This last year running my blog has been a dream come true because of all of your thoughtful comments, kind words, and continuous support.. from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU ALL. I can't wait to see what the new year has in store for my blog, and of course for you ! (PS: To all my readers that have commented on my blog, every post, since day one.. please know that I do recognize it, and appreciate it more than I could express.. Y'all are the best !)

Anyway, I apologize for the tedious read today.. I just had to get that all off of my chest!

Winter Travels

Confession.. I am kind of running out of ideas on how to look cute in the cold. I'm always on the go.. walking through the city, exploring new places, and traveling. I tend to stick to a uniform of my favorite black swing coat, a chunky knit scarf, and hat of some kind.

I try to keep it as chic as possible, and avoid the Uggs (even though, let's be honest, they are pretty practical traveling through the winter.)

The rest of the photos are scenic shots of my travels through Zagreb, Croatia, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, this past weekend. I had an amazing trip and I want to travel much more throughout Eastern Europe... what a magnificent and beautiful area of the world!

I can't believe I'll be leaving Europe next week.. Time has truly flown by.

Polished

I have so many coats that it's becoming a problem.. but I just can't help it.. I hate wearing the same one everyday! I found this vintage (faux-fur, of course) jacket in Chicago right before I left for Paris. I happen to think it fits the aesthetic of the city perfectly, and it dresses up a pair of casual blue jeans and leather booties quite nicely.

I'm very excited because this weekend I'll be jetting off to Croatia to visit a friend. We'll also be visiting Vienna, too.. for some much needed Christmas spirit. My family is originally from both Croatia and Austria, so it will be amazing to see my heritage up close and personal. I cannot wait!! Look forward to some amazing photos, because I'll be doing outfit posts/ and scenic ones while I'm there!

Everyday Layering

Sometimes even a style blogger has to be a little on the cozy side. Its awfully hard to have "dress down" days in Paris because.. well.. no one really dresses down so I always feel the need to look nice (semi-nice, at least)! However, the good news is that Parisians have perfected effortless casual.. and I'm slowly learning.

I just paired a pair of comfy black jeans with a couple of really long flowy tops, a favorite flannel, and an army jacket. I accessorized (quite obviously) with a chunky black scarf, leather bag, felt hat, and ballet flats. The only drawback here is that my legs look much shorter than they actually are in this outfit.. but you can't always have your cake and eat it too. Cute, comfy, and fun for a day of shopping.

Rouge

Versailles round two... I absolutely love it. It's one of those spots that you can visit over and over again it just never loses its magic. This time I wore a long vintage red cotton dress, and covered up with a cropped sweater, leather jacket, and fluffy scarf.

I love classic looks that make you feel beautiful and nostalgic for the past. This dress was one of my favorite vintage finds in New York this summer.. Although I'm usually not a fan of red and black mixed, I really loved the way it worked here. It's always nice to incorporate some bright color into the cold grey days that are so plentiful here.

Naturel

Isn't Paris just beautiful in the fall? I can't get over it. The foliage and crunchy leaves have been making me crave all kinds of rich and rusty colors like burnt sienna and brown leather. I can't help mixing big chunky knits with feminine patterned dresses either.. it's becoming my Parisian uniform.

I've been building quite the vintage collection, too. From sweaters, cardigans, jackets, blazers, skirts, dresses... It's actually becoming a problem because I have no clue how I'm going to get it all back home in December - I don't even want to think about it!

I have a very special visitor coming this week.. we will be doing outfit shoots every day.. I promise I'm going to step up my game :)

Amsterdam

I've successfully returned from my first weekend traveling Europe with some friends.. Amsterdam was so amazing. I absolutely fell in love with the colors of the city and the vibrance of the people. We had no plans set in stone, so we spent the majority of our two day stay wandering around the city by foot..through actual sleet and rain.. yea. C'est la vie.. it was still a wonderful weekend and I got to visit a couple of museums that were on my list, among many other activities.

Being that the weather wasn't cooperative at all, I only managed to snag a couple of outfit shots this week.. I promise I'll have a new ootd post this coming week :)

I Hope you enjoyed my little recount of my small weekend away.

Le Marais

I love going to Le Marais on a Sunday because..well.. there are a lot of shops and wonderful bakeries open here (when in many other districts most stores are closed)! It's my favorite neighborhood in Paris.. filled with locals & actually many fellow Americans ( not to mention, Breakfast in America). Also not to mention, the World's GREATEST burger (bold statement) resides here at Mickey's Deli ..  amazing parks.. beautiful architecture, there's much to appreciate on a lazy Sunday Afternoon stroll.

Lazy Sunday Strolls call for a bit of a lazy Sunday dressing. A big cozy sweater, my favorite skinnies, my Docs, and a big hat. Pretty Simple and formulaic.. but sometimes there is a lot of gold in simplicity.

I'll be traveling to Amsterdam on Thursday for a long Halloween weekend (My favorite American Holiday) ! If you have any suggestions for my upcoming weekend, please do let me know, I'm hoping to make the most of it !
