Le Marais

I love going to Le Marais on a Sunday because..well.. there are a lot of shops and wonderful bakeries open here (when in many other districts most stores are closed)! It's my favorite neighborhood in Paris.. filled with locals & actually many fellow Americans ( not to mention, Breakfast in America). Also not to mention, the World's GREATEST burger (bold statement) resides here at Mickey's Deli ..  amazing parks.. beautiful architecture, there's much to appreciate on a lazy Sunday Afternoon stroll.

Lazy Sunday Strolls call for a bit of a lazy Sunday dressing. A big cozy sweater, my favorite skinnies, my Docs, and a big hat. Pretty Simple and formulaic.. but sometimes there is a lot of gold in simplicity.

I'll be traveling to Amsterdam on Thursday for a long Halloween weekend (My favorite American Holiday) ! If you have any suggestions for my upcoming weekend, please do let me know, I'm hoping to make the most of it !

Living a Fairytale

I wanted this post to read as a combination of the normal "outfit of the day" type post, as well as a little bit of story telling. I had the privilege of shooting with a good friend of mine who is also studying in Paris with me this semester, and we decided to take some shots down by the River Seine, near Notre- Dame and Pont de Sully. It's one of my favorite places because the banks of the river are surprisingly much less populated with tourists and pedestrians.. it is calm, tranquil, and I quite enjoy taking a coffee here and chatting about life.

My black Karta dress was perhaps my greatest thrift store find to date that I managed to snag living in Brooklyn this summer.. I have no idea if it's vintage or not, but the zipper was completely broken when I bought it.. seeing the obvious potential here (come on people!) I had it sent out for a little seamstress magic (thank you mama!) and it had just arrived in Paris for me last week. It's my own version of a princess dress.. I layered a sheer chiffon shirt underneath because a jacket just ruins the appearance of the embellishments, and I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather we've been having lately.

It obviously would be quite lovely with a nice heel as well, but cobblestones are just not mindful of a stiletto. I'm looking at you, early Paris road constructors... But at least I feel like I'm living in a fairytale.

Château

Although I've visited Paris several times before this study abroad experience, and have visited Versailles in the past, it continues to be a place that I return to over & over again. There is just something so incredible about one of the world's most famous palaces.. I can't believe people actually lived here ! However, I know can see why there was such a fuss and how it may have ticked a couple of peeps off..

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos... there are only several posted of hundreds that I took, as I don't want to bore the pants off of you. The weather has still been quite nice the past couple of weeks, although it is now starting to get quite chilly. This was my last tights-less outing (Oh dear). I paired a simple black chiffon dress with my favorite jean jacket, pendant necklace, my oh-so-parisian ballet flats, and of course.. the chapeau .

I'm going to be doing a little ootd shoot/ photo-shoot for a photographer friend, along the Seine this week..   Can't wait to show you all the results!!!

L'automne

One of my favorite spots in Paris so far has been the Tuileries garden.. I'm only a couple of stops away on the metro so I love to go & sit down with a good book, coffee, and friends. Also, I'm a total people watcher (have I mentioned that before?) so yea.. this is theeee perfect place.

I've been taking advantage of the extremely pleasant Parisian weather we've been having, and been dressing in light layers. The leaves are falling and I'm also craving those warm colors like burgundy.. and of course, my black leathers. I've really come to appreciate and adore the simplicity of French fashion.. it's just very feminine and natural.

Hope you enjoy the new post! Take a second and cheers to my awesome roommate, Rosie, who has been taking my photos for me while I'm here ( her youtube channel is here.. she makes wonderful videos: RosieDontBeHasty !)

Get Carried Away

(beautiful photographer outside of Notre Dame)

(peering my lens through the 850 year old Notre Dame windows to see this)

xx

Paris is everything I always hoped & dreamed it would be. It's the most beautiful place in the world.. It doesn't exactly take away my love for New York, but I can definitely feel at home here.. between the cobblestone back roads and the boulangeries.. I can't imagine my life without Paris in it, anymore.

I have been sticking with simplicity while I've been here. I've been learning a lot about style by "people-watching" (a true European past time, I've noticed). The uniform is black, black, and more black. I tend to like to mix some color and pattern into my wardrobe than most young parisiennes .. But I'm looking forward to having a mélange of New York & Paris in my updated sense of personal style.

Travel is all about learning about your "true self".. allowing yourself to truly get carried away. As cheesy as it sounds, make yourself become the person you've always wanted to be..

PS: I'd be OK if all men dressed like Parisian men.. Just saying.

A Bientôt
