Frames

So.. I woke up yesterday morning and this morning to the sound of birds chirping! Spring is right around the corner!!! It has been warming up significantly here in Minneapolis and we have a week of 60 degrees coming up ! Temperature excitement aside, I was also in a "Springy" mood this week because I received the new frames I ordered from Cincinnati company,  Frameri. I am obsessed with their fun shape, peachy color, and white rim on the inside of the frame (you can customize your frame, colors, lenses, everything on their website! Beware it's really fun)!

I actually wear glasses almost everyday and I collect cute frames. I just usually don't photograph in them because I'm terrible at photoshop and I can never figure out how to remove the glass glare that shows up on a lot of the photos... but I just couldn't resist taking some photos with these new pink gems.

Overall, a super casual and simple outfit I wore walking around Mill Ruins park downtown, and a little bit of shopping/apartment hunting after! I wanted a stress-free day after my first few weeks of work and my 23rd birthday coming up tomorrow! Fun Fun!

Minneapolis

Hello from Minneapolis! Woohoo! Cheers to a new city, new beginnings, and new explorations!

I have been wanting to take photos for the past few weeks I have been here, but as some of you may know Minneapolis is the consistently coldest city in the United States (yes, including Alaska). It's been a challenge to find a day without polar wind temperatures and/or a blizzard. That being said, today was relatively calm so I took advantage of my climate!

Dressing for the weather here is taking some adjusting.. most days it's even too cold for tights and a dress (sigh) and I've learned to really love my thick black jeans and my down-filled jacket. The key is layering.. Here I layered a black dress, long sleeved button down sweater, blazer, all over tights. I still had to wear a down coat over this but I'm sure you understand my desire to not photograph it!

Overall, I'm really loving this city so far! So much to do and soo many great restaurants (my wallet is not happy!) A friend of mine had the suggestion to take photos on the Minneapolis Stone Arch Bridge, which has this awesome view of part of the downtown skyline in the background- Can't wait to revisit this spot in the summer and sit along the Mississippi!

Ps: I start my new job Monday! I will be working for the beloved US retail store Target! Wish me luck :)

Winter's Tale

Beautiful snow and scenery made for some really lovely photographs this past week, however, the conditions tend to limit outfit choices (as I'm sure you understand)! I always try to "jazz" up my favorite coats with unique and flashier accessories. This combo I wear a lot during the winter, but usually with black pants. I tend to find all-black outfits difficult to photograph and a little obvious for a blog post (don't get me wrong, I love a great noir ensemble as much as the next New Yorker/ Parisian). I thought the leopard was a fun added pattern a little outside of my comfort zone.

I'm very very busy packing my things and getting ready for my big move, so I may not have another post for you all for another two weeks..but I can't wait for a fresh start (and for some fresh city scenery!!)

(Ps: Loved that you could see my two-different colored eyes in these photos.. the lighting was just right! Love your quirks!)

Parisian Vintage

First of all, I'd like to say that I hope everyone had a very happy holiday season (and if it is not your holiday season, I hope you all had a very pleasant December). I did quite a bit of traveling to visit family around the Midwest, but I'm back now and it's as cold as ever!

I've been SO excited to shoot this coat since last year (yes, last year). I'll start with a small backstory.. when I first moved to Paris last Autumn I had a dream that I was going to find the most beautiful, dreamy, show-stopping vintage piece I had ever seen. One freezing day I was walking through le Marais with some friends, and took a walk through one of my favorite vintage stores and there it lay... a beautiful sherpa coat! I know you all know my obsession with coats.. I tried it on and it fit like a glove (a Cinderella moment). I bought the coat for around 160 euros, which I thought was a steal, because it's all genuine suede and it's just beautiful. Plus, I just love the tag.. how many times do you see a tag that says "Made in France: Paris" (hint: almost never).

Ok, sorry about the narrative but this coat is... my favorite thing in my whole closet ( I say that a lot but this is the real deal). The reason I haven't photographed it before now is because it needed cleaned very badly, and speciality leather cleaning costs a small fortune ( I had to send my baby away to Kentucky)! But it's back now and they did a beautiful job and I can't wait to pass this gem on someday.

I paired the coat with a floral dress, tights, simple jewelry, my staple black boots, and black bowler hat . I just love outfits that have a story.

( In other news.. I'm excited to say that I'll be moving to Minneapolis in 2-3 weeks to start a new job, and get on with my life! I have no idea what that job will be yet, but I'm taking a risk... because without risks there are no rewards. I'm REALLY looking forward to showcasing a city that is entirely underrated, in my opinion, on my blog.)
